Consulting Engineer
ProArch is an IT services and consulting company with offices in
Syracuse, and Rochester New York. Our business is growing, and to
serve our customers in the best possible manner, ProArch is looking
to hire highly qualified, motivated, industrious professionals.
There is an open position for a remote Consulting Engineer.
ProArch Sales and Consulting staff collaborate with clients to
design the best solution to fit the business need. The Engineering
technical staff works to configure, install, secure and support IT
environments of all sizes and industry verticals. A Consulting
Engineer is a member of the Project Engineering and Consulting team
and is expected to be able to assess and design, as well as
implement and secure technology within guidance provided by a
Senior Consultant.
A Consulting Engineer is a client-focused position with a highly
technical skill set that includes Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365,
server and desktop virtualization, storage, networking, cloud
architecture, assessment, and migration knowledge. A Consulting
Engineer should be able to understand client business requirements
and processes and be able to align those with technological,
strategic goals and objectives.
Technology Expertise
The successful candidate should have extensiveness expertise in
Enterprise technologies, and overall understanding of Enterprise
on-premises, hybrid, and cloud infrastructure components that make
up customer environments.
- Planning, implementation, and management of Microsoft Azure
Infrastructure as a Services (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS)
and Virtual Networking solutions
- Planning, implementation, and management of Microsoft Hyper-V
and/or VMware vSphere environments
- Planning, migration, implementation, and management of Windows
Server environments including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, File
Services/DFS, IIS, and Group Policy Objects/Hardening
- Planning, and implement of Microsoft 365 Exchange Online,
SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive
- Planning and implement of end-user virtual solutions including
Remote Desktop Services (RDS), Azure Virtual Desktop, and VMware
Horizon View
- Implementation and management of backup technologies and
strategies that are image, file, and cloud-based.
- Disaster Recovery and replication technologies such as Veeam
Enterprise, VMware Site Recovery Manager, or Azure Site
Recovery.
- Implementation and administration of Microsoft Enterprise
Management Tools such as Intune, SCCM, SCOM, SCVMM, and VMWare
vSphere
- Implementation and administration of Enterprise Storage include
DELL/EMC, HP, Microsoft, and VMware Software Defined Storage
- Implementation and administration of switch, routing, wireless
and firewall networking including Cisco, HP, Meraki, Sonicwall,
Ruckus, Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Barracuda
The ideal candidate must have experience with:
- Performing strategic technology assessments including data
gathering, analysis, and recommendations.
- Aligning organization technology goals with business
requirements
- Advanced troubleshooting skills for network and system
issues
- Security best practices and system hardening
- Experience in Incident Response
- Collaborating with clients in different vertical markets
- Interfacing with other 3rd party vendors, i.e., hardware,
software, and service providers
- Working individually and as part of a team
- Interfacing with clients remotely, over the phone, and
on-site
- Developing product and solution recommendations for
deliverables and presales opportunities
- Budgeting and time estimation
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in related field

- Knowledge and experience providing OT (Operational Technology)
security and support solutions for automation and control
technologies and systems - examples include Distributed Control
Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), SCADA
systems.
- Ability to create confidence in environments where system
discovery and gap analysis is required and may not be fully
understood by clients. Provide solutions to these systems utilizing
staged improvements to create insights, resilient and stable
Operational Technology systems.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills with first time
engagements - Projects, Industrial Control Systems, or problems
tend to be unique, so critical thinking skills and the ability to
communicate across multiple disciplines are essential.
- Ability to communicate complex IT/OT network systems and
dataflows to stakeholders and provide analysis of risks,
requirements, and responsibilities for deployment of new solutions
or upgrades
- In depth knowledge of OSI Model and the ability to configure
production systems at one or more layers. Application, Network,
Session level maintaining least privilege and limiting end-user and
production impacts - this includes LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and
more.
- Understanding of unique protocols to Industrial Controls,
Modbus, DNP3, others.
