Job Description:

The Category Development Manager (CDM) is responsible for uncovering and developing key insights that lead to action at the customer, distributor, and within the PRUSA organization. This role partners with the sales team and is instrumental to grow category share by driving sales through the analysis of scan data, consumer and shopper insights, and industry trends.

Major Responsibilities:
Identify and commercialize best practice insights from industry trends, retail landscape and shopper behavior that support Division and Customer Priorities
Provide thought leadership to the customers by bringing category growth solutions rooted in insights
Develop and articulate category strategies, analyze relevant data sources, link to shopper insights, and provide recommendations that grow the business
Deliver post-promotion evaluations and communicate areas of strength and opportunity
Track and benchmark new item innovation performance
Scorecard PRUSA's performance versus the competition
Evaluate category management initiatives around distribution, pricing, promotions, and shelf
Collaborate with cross functional teams such as marketing, finance, and operations to deliver category plans
Advance Chains Division selling tools to capitalize on category volume opportunities
Provide data, insights and analysis for National Account Customer Prioritization, Channel Strategy, and other special projects
Develop deep understanding of customer strategy and category role at assigned National Account Customers through buyer interaction, sales and distributor meetings, customer financial statements, and third-party sources. Communicate and apply relevant customer insights effectively in sales presentations, sales meetings, and in planning/strategy sessions with key internal stakeholders. Act as coach/mentor to organizational stakeholders in area of customer understanding and centricity.
Analyze and synthesize depletions, syndicated data and other data sources to identify customer and brand opportunities, and to develop winning national account customer sales presentations for our brands
Work with Director and other key stakeholders to develop trackers and reports to monitor progress against key category development and National Account sales goals (e.g. distribution, sales velocity, etc.) Develop fact-based customer-specific selling stories from a Customer point of view that demonstrate how customers can grow their category business and meet their shopper objectives and how PRUSA brands can play a role in their success.)
Perform ad-hoc analyses as necessary to identify business barriers and opportunities for National Account Director and National Account Sales Leadership

Key Competencies:
Demonstrates exceptional skill in critical thinking and communication, as well as a high level of data analysis, problem solving and analytical reasoning
Ability to organize and manage work to achieve results and track performance so that problems are detected early or prevented entirely are key competencies for success
Understanding of both retailer and distributor/wholesaler go-to-market strategies
Broad understanding of marketplace dynamics and impact to BevAlc environment
Ability to gather, synthesize, analyze, and present data from multiple systems/sources
Must possess strong computer skills with a proficiency in MS Office - Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
Demonstrate strong Nielsen / IRI analytical skills, JDA, Numerator and other Category Management software application skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as outstanding aptitude for time management
Successful at building relationships at customers and internally throughout the organization
Proven experience informing and influencing key decision makers on the business
Must work well in matrix organization and possess collaboration, project management and communication skills. Must effectively communicate data, insights and analyses to internal and external stakeholders. Multiple stakeholders include National Account Customer, internal PRUSA colleagues in Sales, Brand Marketing, Brand Activation Marketing and Digital Marketing functions, Distributor partners and outside data/insight vendors.

Experience:
Bachelor's Degree
3-5 years of previous category sales analysis experience
Spirits and wine background preferred but not required
Chain account knowledge (customer facing)
