Job Description
Quickly grasp key drivers of the business and industry and become
immersed in the most important business issues facing the
company
Provide practical and strategic legal counsel and risk management
advice to management and People Team colleagues on a wide variety
of employment matters in a manner that is consistent with the
Company's values and goals
Advice on all aspects of employment law, including hiring,
workplace privacy, M&A people matters, progressive discipline
and separations, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives,
restrictive covenants, leaves and accommodations, reductions in
force, independent contractors, global mobility programs,
immigration, and wage and hour matters
Advice on compensation and benefits matters, including compliance
issues arising out of the design, implementation, and governance of
health and welfare and retirement plans
Draft and review employment-related policies, procedures, offers,
and agreements
Investigate and respond to employee claims, represent Medable in
proceedings before federal and state agencies, and manage
employment-related arbitration and litigation around the world
Manage and oversee outside counsel in the provision of advice in
jurisdictions outside of the United States, in collaboration with
People and Legal Team members
Monitor and assess the impact of legal and regulatory developments
and enforcement trends at a state, federal, and global level in
conjunction with outside counsel and People Team members
Effectively communicate risks and consequences, balancing
potentially conflicting goals, to collaborate with the business on
viable alternatives
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
8+ years of working experience in labor and employment counseling
or a combination of education and experience; both in-house and
major law firm experience preferred
Currently admitted in good standing to practice law in at least one
state in the United States or international equivalent
Facility with applicable legislation such as FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA,
ADEA, state worker's compensation, and employment discrimination
laws as well as international employment law and labor issues and
U.S. government contractor OFCCP/affirmative action compliance
Solid working knowledge of corporate law, regulations, and best
practices
Demonstrated successful leadership and collaboration with
colleagues; ability to develop business solutions with effective
presentation of risks and anticipated outcomes
Experience in working successfully in a highly results-oriented and
performance-driven environment with a focus on excellence
Demonstrates a strategic, innovative, creative, and inquisitive
frame of mind and a service and leadership mentality, with strong
business acumen and judgment.

Education:
Juris Doctor (or international equivalent) from a top law
school.
