Job Description:

An assistant director for a childcare center ensures the facility is a safe and fun place for children to learn. They enjoy working with children and want to provide the students at the child care center with the best possible experience. The assistant director has a variety of front office responsibilities, including managing staff, working with parents and interacting with children. The assistant director is also tasked with a number of necessary behind-the-scenes duties to keep the day care center running smoothly. The minimum education required to work as an assistant director of a day care center is a high school diploma or equivalent, but candidates with a four-year degree in early childhood development, psychology, sociology or another related subject area will have a competitive edge. Most facilities require candidates to have a minimum of one year of experience working in a child care facility. They should also be familiar with Texas state's rules and regulations regarding providing child care and working as a child care provider.

* Hire new staff, providing training, and constantly monitor staff members to ensure they are accurately perform assigned duties and responsibilities
* Supervise children and develop activities they will both enjoy and learn from
* Constantly monitor the facility, ensuring that it is a safe and healthy place for children, and adhering to proper state codes
* Make sure all children have proper paperwork on file, including their health insurance information, allergies, details of any medical conditions they suffer from and authorization from the parents stating who is allowed to pick the child up from the facility
* Keep enrollment at the childcare center up by responding to parent inquiries, giving tours, hosting open houses, advertising and any other applicable marketing initiatives
* Create a budget for the facility, submit payroll and purchase necessary supplies

* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage a diverse group of children
* Effective communicator as they interact with both parents and children on a daily basis
* Organized, detail-oriented, trustworthy and responsible
* Stay in touch with parents, being readily available to listen to their comments and concerns, and keeping them informed on new developments
* CPR, first aid and other routine emergency treatments

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
