You belong here.Qualifications - External* Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology (required) or* associate degree (preferred)* 2 Years experience in general radiology (Required)* 1 year hospital experience (Preferred)* CMRT Certified Radiologic Technologist by TDH or TMB upon hire (Required)* ARRT American Registry of Radiologic Technologists upon hire (Required)* BCLS Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care (Required)*Skills:* Computer skills, communication skills to include speaking and understanding English language, excellent customer service skills. Prefer venipuncture*Position Responsibilities* A Texas Health _*Radiology Lead *_is responsible for staff supervision and coordination of daily department activities.In addition to the required qualifications, a successful _*Radiology Lead *_willStaff supervision and coordination of daily department activitiesCollaborates with the technical staff in organizing and directing department work flow.Evaluates technical skills, and schedules staff appropriately to include call and holidays. Provides adequate staff coverage including vacation schedules, absenteeism and turnover.Oversees orientation, preceptor, training and cross-training of new staff to department, assesses their ability to work independently, communicates policies and procedures to staff, and verifies orientation paperworkCooperates and coordinates with other managers and team leaders in facilitating communication flow and procedures between technical, clerical, support staff, students and other departments. Communicates with staff through regular meetings and discussions.Assists in implementing and monitoring performance evaluation procedures, establishing professional development goals, and counseling staff on an ongoing basis as appropriate.Acts as a technical resource for staff by providing ongoing instruction and assistance with procedures, equipment, and Ambra/PACS.Organizes, maintains and updates records of purchases, ordered exams, statistics, and other lists.Assists with interview and selection of new employees.Ensures patient care is efficiently and effectively maintained. Monitors and investigates complaints regarding patient care.Serves as the liaison between the radiology department and external radiology educational programs and provides feedback to clinical instructors regarding student technologists.Audits charges daily and corrects charges as needed*Quality Standards*Monitors compliance for accreditation and regulatory agencies and hospital and department standards for safety, infection control, department aesthetics and equipment performance.Monitors staff use of technique charts or protocols, patient documentation, reviewing films with technologists, and advising staff on improvements.Troubleshoots imaging equipment and ancillary equipment, Ambra/PACS problems, and performs minor repairs as necessary.Arranges for service of imaging equipment, ancillary equipment, Ambra/PACS, and department repairs as required, and monitors the suitability of the repairs.Monitors delivery and service reports for purchases and equipment repairs, files and records appropriately.Monitors standards of practice, technical quality, technique charts or protocols, patient and EMR, Ambra/PACS documentation are correct.Performs quality control testing on imaging and ancillary equipment on a routine basis. Maintains documentation of testing and quality control program for inspection purposes.Monitors image quality using phantom images, correcting algorithm for exam acquisitions, performs DR system testing, and digital plate testing.Compiles statistics for image reject reasons, reject rates and system image critique.Ensures that semi-annual equipment preventive maintenance is performed and timely repairs made if necessary.Monitors availability of age appropriate positioning devices and educates staff on their usage.Monitors the integrity and availability of radiation safety devices such as lead apron, gloves, and goggles.Prepares documentation of QC data and functions as a liaison between regulatory inspectors and management during annual inspections.*Patient Care*1. Uses multidisciplinary, team oriented actions2. Assesses and recognizes the patient's emotional, physical, developmental, cognitive and psychosocial conditions3. Prepares room for examination (i.e. suction, oxygen, supplies)4. Checks physician orders and exam requisitions using time-out procedures5. Greets and acknowledges patient, using two forms of ID6. Obtains patient history7. Handles patients with IVs, oxygen, chest tubes or other devices, and monitor patient during imaging8. Demonstrates knowledge of emergency drugs and equipment9. Uses proper body mechanics when assisting patient10. Administers contrast media and other medications in accordance with medication administration guidelines11. Processes patient information, displays proper phone etiquette and transports patients as needed12. Communicates respectfully with co-workers and other departments13. Correctly sends and transfers images to PACS and/or Ambra 45%*Equipment Operation and Maintenance*1. Adjusts technical factors to produce quality imaging2. Operates, cares for and maintains equipment3. Applies knowledge of physics and accessories4. Troubleshoots and properly documents equipment malfunction5. Maintains equipment and room to sanitary standards between patients (injectors, table tops, floors)6. Stocks supplies daily7. Exchanges and maintenance of film badges within designated time frames8. Demonstrates the knowledge and understanding of quality control and regulatory standards9. Utilizes proper downtime procedures for PACS, Ambra, and HIS / RIS.*Professional Accountability and Partnership*1. Maintains and enhances technical skills and technology advancement2. Attends departmental continuing education, meetings, and checks email in a timely manner3. Identifies, troubleshoots and initiates quality improvement4. Manages time and re-prioritizes as necessary5.
