Purpose of JobWe are seeking a talented Software Engineer - Lead
Level for our San Antonio, Plano, Phoenix, Charlotte, Tampa or
Colorado Springs facility. This person may also work remotely in a
100% remote work environment. The person selected for this role
will have the opportunity to embark on one of the world's largest
Modernization Journey. This person will have the opportunity to
work on industry leading Greenfield implementations that meets the
highest DevOps standards providing best user experience on prem and
on the cloud. The person will help establish the AWS Cloud
platform. They will work with multiple cutting-edge technologies in
creating continuous delivery systems. They will be responsible for
mentoring and teaching existing team members. Additionally, this
role provides support to the Enterprise and has an opportunity to
significantly impact organizational growth and effectiveness
through delivering best in class technology solutions. Engaged in
all phases of the software systems and application development
lifecycle which include; gathering and analyzing requirements,
designing, testing, documenting and implementing software,
responding to outages. Identify and manage existing and emerging
risks that stem from business activities and ensure these risks are
effectively identified and escalated to be measured, monitored and

- Identifies and manages existing and emerging risks that stem
from business activities and the job role.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are
effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled.
- Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and
procedures for business activities.
- Design, develop, code, and test complex cross functional
technical solutions, often collaborating with Engineers or
Architects outside of team/department.
- Leads the team in code/design reviews to ensure smooth daily
operations and accurate planning for multiple teams.
- Organize work and lead multiple teams to deliver features and
solutions.
- Independently resolves complex production issues and leads
troubleshooting of end-to-end solutions that span multiple
applications and systems.
- Mentor and coach junior / experienced engineers.
- Work with architecture to help define directions for cross
functional or highly complex key technologies within a specific
domain.
- May begin advancing professional development through active
participation in industry organizations, writing programming
publications, pursuing educational opportunities, establishing
personal networks, and participating in professional
societies.
- Leverages Site Reliability Engineering practices in their
domain.Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree OR 4 additional years of experience beyond
the minimum requirement can be used in lieu of a degree.
- 8 years of software development experience demonstrating depth
of technical understanding within a specific
discipline(s)/technology(s) to include 2 years demonstrated
leadership driving enterprise technology projects or
initiatives
- 6 years of experience delivering technology solutions in all
phases of the software systems and application development
lifecycle.
- Highly proficient in software engineering languages and tools;
ability to develop on multiple platforms.
- Knowledge and advanced experience of leading code/design
reviews
- Demonstrated ability to address complex production issues by
troubleshooting applications and systems
- Ability to quickly understand applicable business acumen to
provide appropriate Engineering solutions
- Deep Understanding of one or more of the following: Java,
Swift, Objective-C, Cobol, JavaScript, Kotlin, C++, HTML, CSS,
SQLPreferred experience:
- 12+ years of experience in IT as an engineer, technical lead,
and/or architect
- 7+ years of experience in Java development
- Experience with setting DevOps Strategy
- Experience working with container technologies
- Experience with AWS cloud Migration
- Understanding of microservices architecture design and
implementation
- Experience developing and testing and lifecycle management of
REST services
- Experience & understanding of multiple AWS technologies
including: Lambda, S3, Aurora, Secrets Manager, Qlik, Macie,
Datadog etc
- Experience creating high level designs and detailed level
designs for other developers and hands on
- Demonstrated experience owning a deliverable and driving it to
completion
- Experience technically leading teams of 4 or move
developersCompensation:USAA has an effective method for assessing
market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain
competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your
experience and market position. The salary range for this skill is:
$117,600.00 - $211,700*Employees may be eligible for pay incentives
based on overall corporate and individual performance or at the
discretion of the USAA Board of Directors. Geographical
Differential: Geographic pay differential is additional pay
provided to eligible employees working in locations where market
pay levels are above the national average.Shift premium: will be
addressed on an individual-basis for applicable roles that are
