Your Career
This is an opportunity to join a dynamic legal department and a
growing team at a fast-paced company. The Privacy Counsels Group
works with all teams across Palo Alto Networks to incorporate
privacy and security in everything we do, by providing guidance,
education, and tools, to facilitate adoption of our products and to
make Palo Alto Networks a trusted brand for privacy and security.
This position is open for candidates located in the United
States.
We are seeking a self-starter who enjoys working collaboratively as
well as driving high impact projects independently. You will take a
collaborative approach to building privacy and security frameworks.
You will be a key legal partner to the cross-functional teams that
build our best-in-class cybersecurity products.
You will be working on critical privacy initiatives with key
stakeholders across the company. You are motivated by unique issues
and enthusiastic about being the legal partner to our
cross-functional stakeholders. You are experienced in translating
complex legal issues into efficient and practical solutions for the
company.
Your Impact
Provide solution-focused privacy guidance to product, business,
engineering, and other cross-functional teams
Refine, enhance, and scale company-wide privacy compliance
operating processes
Design, implement and maintain scalable privacy compliance
operations with documented goals, objectives, activities, and
metrics, including metrics that measure and improve the
effectiveness of privacy controls
In collaboration with the Product Counsels Group and other teams,
conduct data impact assessments and other security assessments on
new products and enhancements to existing products
Identify potential privacy and information security risks and
provide practical risk-mitigation solutions
Work closely with the Products Counsels Group and the products team
to understand their perspectives, processes, applications, projects
and technologies to ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws,
regulations, and industry best practices while guiding the teams to
the desired goals
Negotiate data protection and security agreements with customers,
partners, and other third parties
Be the trusted partner working and influencing cross-functionally
with leadership, engineer, product and business teams
Build strong relationships with teams and gain deep understanding
of how each teams work to design and operationalize privacy
compliance into their teams
Manage and lead a team of privacy professionals
Handle special projects, as requested
The Team
The Legal team at Palo Alto Networks is a dynamic team that impacts
all go-to-market aspects of the business every day. The team is
immersed in developing new programs and evolving existing ones to
scale across Palo Alto Networks' entire technology portfolio. You
will work closely with teams from other departments to immerse
yourself in the ins and outs of our business to support it from a
legal perspective. Our legal team is an essential resource on a
global basis, impacting and driving our products and services.
Qualifications
Your Experience
J.D. degree from ABA accredited law school
Bar: Must be a member in good standing of an applicable U.S.
state
10+ years of strong privacy experience with significant experience
in privacy compliance operations
Experience designing, implementing and maintaining scalable privacy
compliance operations with proven track record of success
In-house experience at a technology or security company is
required
Expertise in privacy issues impacting the cybersecurity and privacy
industry including self-regulatory guidelines, privacy issues and
legislation, and global privacy laws & regulations (e.g., GDPR,
CCPA/CPRA, and other data protection frameworks)
Experience collaborating with key product stakeholders
Significant experience negotiating a wide range of privacy and
information security agreements
Significant experience advising on a range of privacy issues,
regulations, and industry standards
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple,
conflicting priorities while managing a substantial workload and
client expectations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, business
judgment, flexibility, analytical skills, and attention to
detail

compensation (includes on-target earnings = base + on target
incentives for sales roles) for this role to be located in the
state of Colorado. If hired in Colorado, this position starts at
$164,600/yr. Depending on the position offered, restricted stock
units and incentive or bonus pay may be provided as part of this
