Job Description:

We're searching for a Data Privacy Specialist to provide client support for a large automotive OEM in the Dallas area.

About the Position

The Data Privacy Specialist will work closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure privacy requirements are met when developing new business opportunities and systems, and when changes in data usage, transmission, or storage occur.

Responsibilities

Support product owners and development teams in providing recommendations & support for development of solutions for apps, telematics products, marketing, and customer interfaces
Work with the legal team to understand Consumer Privacy Protection Principles; understand data privacy & security laws, regulations, and industry best practices
Provide guidance in maintaining and updating app/head unit notifications and/or other customer interfaces
Act as subject matter expert and resource on issues related to privacy, security, and data protection
Review data protection impact assessments and other internal privacy and data security assessments.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science / Management Information System or equivalent field or equivalent work experience
7+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in executing privacy risk assessments and performing vendor due diligence
Strong fundamentals in data analytics
Experience with analyzing and interpreting complex digital data and its relationship to other data sets and drawing conclusions that can then be shared to both technical and non-technical teams to support consumer privacy and data security decisions
Strong understanding of complex IT environments with factual and theoretical knowledge to identify and retrieve information.
Technical aptitude with 5+ years of programming experience with languages such as Java, C/C++/UI design along with hands-on experience with databases such as Oracle/Snowflake/MongoDB
Experience working with product teams in implementing privacy by design
General understanding of data security tools and systems
Solid understanding of U.S. and global data protection laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, capable of quickly gaining the respect of others and interacting comfortably and successfully collaborating and influencing others
Fluent in English; must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Automotive and Telematics Data
Experience in Cloud and Big Data
Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification.
