Essential Functions:

• Follow procedures and work instructions to support production and process stability
• Input quality records related to tooling, process, and part approval.
• Provide data collection on part & process stability - material characterization - design of experiments
• Monitors key parameters of the IMM process to make recommendations to ensure optimum manufacturability, efficiency, and cost savings.
• Review processes and molds, identify and notify issues with existing tooling, introduction to new tooling, machinery, equipment, and processing technologies.
• Basic understanding of mold repair and assembly tolerance requirements
• Work with manufacturing to troubleshoot and resolve processing issues during production runs.
• Ensure special instructions of manufacturing are followed by molding and production technicians.
• Support tool trials/resin trials, new tooling qualifications and items like sealant cure rate, alternate materials
• Reports any tooling issues to the management team and recommends repairs and modifications where necessary.
• Works closely with Operations, Tooling and Maintenance Departments to maintain accurate process monitoring, control and troubleshooting to resolve complex production problems.
• Ensures documentation is loaded to systems for check in / out and production vs repair status.
• Identifies production or quality issues and supports root cause/corrective actions.
• Reviews parts and first samples and makes recommendations to improve production & molding conditions.
• Performs routine audits of existing molding processes to assure proper systems performance and maintenance.
• Reviews machine batch data and addresses critical in process alarms on process monitoring equipment needed to actively segregate parts.
• Actively supports commitment to Quality and all quality objectives, with an emphasis on continual improvement, and Lean Principles.
• Investigate and recommend new technologies and innovations in tooling, equipment, and robotics.
• Understands basic knowledge of scientific molding processes and key variables to process quality
• Performs additional duties and projects as assigned based on knowledge and experience.
  Qualifications:
  
  • Ability to read and interpret product specifications
  • Aptitude for measuring products to ensure accuracy based on specifications with the use of calipers/micrometers and other measuring devices.
  • Proficient with Microsoft office software.
  • Ability to Manage projects with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of Injection molding grade polymers.
    Education and Experience:
    
    • Minimum of High School diploma or GED with 2+ years of experience including processing with scientific molding techniques, knowledge of mold set-ups and support equipment such as end-of-arm tooling, hot runner controllers, dryers, and knowledge of process monitoring equipment installation, setup, and use.
    • Basic experience with Lean/Six Sigma principles and methodologies.
    • Basic experience with ISO 9001 quality management system preferred.
    • Experience and understanding of injection mold design and fabrication.
      
      Preferred Experience & Qualification:
      
      • Basic understanding of the development and design of plastic parts, insert molded parts, and assemblies preferred.
      • Experience in programming and calibrating robots and automation for injection molding applications.
      • Mold build and repair experience
      • Experience with Solidworks.
      • Experience with an ERP System - IQMS.
      • Experience with statistical software.
      • Experience with Battenfeld Molding machines and/or Wittmann Robots.
        
        Physical Demands:
        
        Standing and walking (up to continuously); bending/stooping, twisting neck and torso (frequently); reaching, holding, grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting/carrying raw material, finished product, tools, and machinery up to 50 pounds (frequently); use seeing, hearing, and speaking.
        
        Working Conditions:
        
        Work indoors and or outdoors.
